In 2025, PhillySEEDS revamped its scholarships to honor trailblazers within the PHA community, including the Nellie Reynolds Scholarship (formerly the PhillySEEDS Scholarship Program), the Estelle Richman Scholarship (formerly the Post-Secondary Education Assistance Program), and the new Rev. Bonnie Camarda Scholarship for part-time continuing education students. PhillySEEDS also continues to offer the HCV Security Deposit Matching Grant and Homeownership Closing Cost Matching Grant. The Nellie Reynolds Scholarship, formally known as the PhillySEEDS Scholarship Program, offers annual awards of $3K, $4K, or $5K to PHA residents and program participants. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and adult learners with a GPA of 2.5 and above, or a GED equivalent. Recipients must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university, or trade school.
The Estelle Richman Scholarship, formally known as the Post-Secondary Education Assistance Program, was created to support PHA residents and program participants with a GPA below 2.5 or a GED equivalent. The program offers an annual award of $1,500 to high school seniors and adult learners enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university, or trade school.
The Rev. Bonnie Camarda Scholarship, established in 2025, was created in response to an expressed need for support for PHA residents and program participants pursuing part-time continuing education. The program offers an annual award of up to $1,000 to high school seniors and adult learners enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, or trade schools, with no GPA requirement.
The HCV Security Deposit Matching Grant was designed to make securing housing with private landlords via vouchers more accessible. This one-time grant matches up to $2,000 for eligible PHA Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program participants.
The Homeownership Closing Cost Matching Grant helps PHA residents and program participants achieve their dream of homeownership. This one-time grant matches up to $2,000 to assist with closing costs.
